How to Attach Images in All Major Email Clients

Contributors may think they are sending high-resolution images when embedding them in emails, but that does not necessarily mean they arrive at the same size and resolution.

This guide explains how to attach—rather than embed—images so they retain full quality.

 

Gmail — Desktop / Web

  2. Click the paperclip icon.
  3. Select your image file.
  4. Click Send
 

Gmail — iPhone / iPad App

  1. Open the Gmail app. (https://www.mailslurp.com/blog/embedding-images-in-html/)
  2. Tap Compose.
  3. Tap the paperclip icon.
  4. Select Photos, Camera, Files, or Drive.
  5. Select your image.
  6. If inserted inline, tap and choose Send as attachment
 

Apple Mail — Mac

  2. Click the paperclip.
  3. Select your image.
  4. Send.
 

Apple Mail — iPhone

  2. Tap where you'd like to insert the file.
  3. Select Photo Library.
  4. Choose your photo; it attaches as a file. 
 

Outlook — Desktop

  2. Click Attach File.
  3. Select image.
  4. Insert and send.
 

Outlook — Mobile

  3. Select Photos or Files.
  4. Select your image and send.
