Florida

Became territory: March 30, 1822
Became state: March 3, 1845

Like some western states, many of Florida's certificates originate from only a few large, relatively modern companies. Florida is important among collectors of Southern states' material, so it is not possible to collect a large number of different varieties; there are just too few to go around.
