Connecticut

One of original colonies
Became state: Janurary 9, 1788

With its crucial location between New York and Massachusetts, Connecticut has seen more railroad incorporations than its small size would have suggested.

Usually portrayed as an elliptical design, the seal's primary "grape vines" are often incorporated less ostentatiously into certificates. The vines often resemble trees and the grapes are not always obvious. The ribbon at the bottom, with Qui Transtulit Sustinet (He who transplanted still sustains), often appears on certificates.
