Colorado
Became territory: Febrary 28, 1861
Became state: August 1, 1876
Like mining certificates, railroad certificates from Colorado are highly sought after, mainly because of its position at the pinnacle of narrow gauge mountain railroading. About 15% of all known varieties come from the narrow gauge Denver & Rio Grande and its descendent, the Denver & Rio Grande Western. Few of the remaining varieties are common.
Shield with mountains and crossed pick and shovel. Sunrays originate from all-knowing "Eye of God" above fasces. State motto of Nil Sine Numine (Nothing without Providence) on ribbon below shield. |
