One of original colonies
Became state: March 4, 1791
Fewer than 75 railroad certificates are known that specifically
carry the Vermont incorporation. However, the number can possibly be enlarged
to twice that number if companies are included that operated within the
state. Harder to find, or at least harder to identify, are timber companies
that operated within the state and operated non-common carrier rail lines.
