Louisiana-Missouri territory: March 3, 1805
Became state: April 30, 1812

Like other southern states, these certificates tend to attract values a little higher than their scarcity would suggest.

Pelican feeds chicks surrounded by words of state motto. Very elaborate engraved variations of the seal are known on stocks and bonds.
