The number of varieties of railroad certificates
available from Colorado are limited compared to states in the eastern
U.S. In fact, 15% of all known varieties come from the narrow gauge Denver
& Rio Grande and its descendent, the Denver & Rio Grande Western.
Few of the remaining varieties are common. Because of its position at
the pinnacle of narrow gauge mountain railroading, it is a highly sought-after
state among collectors.
