Collectible Stocks and Bonds from North American Railroads

Serial numbers currently recorded for
ALL sub-varieties and signature combinations of
LOU-493-S-72
Louisville Cincinnati & Lexington Railroad (Rail Road) Co

This is the entire list of serial numbers recorded for S-72. No matter which listing of S-72 you click, you will see you the same list. If I did not take this approach, you would need to click every listing of S-72 to discover all serial numbers. In companies with many listings of celebrity-signed certificates, you might need to click on more than 25 listings to discover all serial numbers.

Please be aware that I generally record serial numbers only for certificates that sell for more than $25. That means that less expensive certificates are under-represented by the numbers of serial numbers recorded. Please help by contributing more numbers.

Do not jump to conclusion about the meaning of serial numbers. Read What can serial numbers tell us?

In the list below, issuance and cancellation is displayed exactly as reported. Reporting, however, is not always accurate. Please see my discussion about the reliability of reports of issuance and cancellation. I will appreciate your help in correcting mistakes.

The collecting community needs your contributions.

This represents all the serial numbers currently recorded for all varieties of certificate LOU-493-S-72 from the Louisville Cincinnati & Lexington Railroad (Rail Road) Co. This does not - I repeat, DOES NOT - imply that these are the only certificates known.

Also, do NOT assume that all intervening serial numbers still exist and will fill in "holes" in the number sequence.

This list is a developing effort to help both collectors and sellers determine whether certificates are scarcer or more common than previously thought. This effort will take many years to achieve. This list is in its formative stages. Only about 97,000 serial numbers are currently recorded out of the millions of certificates used.

We need to prevent the addition of fictitious serial numbers. That would falsely imply certificates are more plentiful than they really are. Therefore, I require some sort of validation before adding new numbers to the database. I know this is tedious. But it is necessary to protect the integrity of the knowledge base. Consequently, I ask for copies of certificates. Even common ones.

Yes, you may send copies anonymously. See HOW TO SEND COPIES for more details.
