The Departure

T. Bourne

Other images reportedly engraved by Herbert Bourne

Substantially reliable references exist that indicate Bourne's engravings also appear in these two volumes. I have never located either, so I cannot personally confirm.

This reference to the Henry-Scott-MacFarlane Bible came from the WorldCat database (courtesy of David Adams). A librarian at Yale University personally re-examined the Bible in Yale's collection and confirmed that it definitely includes these artists and engravers.

Engravers reported: Artists reported:
Charles Rolls William Hilton
? Edwards Henry LeJeune
Charles Henry Jeens William Henry Bartlett
Charles Cousen William Hamilton
W. West John Singleton Copley
Herbert Bourne Paul Falconer Poole
William Holl Peter Paul Rubens
William Greatback

However, I have discovered there are three, and possibly several more, editions of the Bible that have identical title, date, page numbers, and contributors. The most common version (by William Collins, Glasgow) does NOT include Bourne. From what I can tell, at least three versions of the Bible have completely different maps and illustrations, with none in common. I can definitely confirm that the illustrations in the Yale edition and the Collins edition are completely different. I can also confirm there is a third volume replete with many maps but apparently no engravings. The Collins edition includes the following illustrations:

Old Testament: New testament:
Church of the Holy Sepulchre (E. Radclyffe, inside front) Bethlehem (E. Radclyffe, after pg 4)
