  Discovering companies from CUSIP numbers  

If you have a CUSIP number, and want to discover what company may have issued the related security, contact your local stock broker. They pay to access a monstrous database of that information.

Alternatively, visit Standard and Poor's. That company is solely responsible for issuing and controlling CUSIP numbers.
